WILLIAM (BILL) HAMILTON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Hamilton on December 11, 2009 at the age of 92 years. Dad's memory will be forever held within the hearts of those who loved and cherished him. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Elsie Hamilton; son Bill (Mary); daughter Teena; grandchildren Ron, Janice, Jeff, Bob, Andrea, Wanda, Michael and Lauren; great-grandchildren T.J., Brett, Brady, Justin, Easton, Cooper and Mason; son-in-laws Ron and Peter and sister Nel. Bill was predeceased by his two loving daughters Gloria and Pat; parents Samuel and Ida; brothers Ed, Dave and Orrie; sisters Ida, Grace, Jessie, Deb and Ethel. Dad joined the army and served overseas for two years, until being wounded and sent back home to be with Mom and their first child Gloria. Dad and Mom raised their family in Brooklands and enjoyed many family gatherings in their home. After 61 years of living on Gallagher Ave., they moved to Amber Meadow Retirement Residence for three years. Dad and Mom loved spending time at their cottage in Winnipeg Beach, which they owned for 44 years. It was there they shared many happy memories with their family. Dad's final years were spent at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg with Mom by his side. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at the care home for their kindness and excellent care of Dad. We would also like to give a special thanks to the ER and to the 5th floor U7 unit staff of Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion given to Dad. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bill's life will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, as he was a real animal lover.
