ALBERT (AB) LAWSON It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Albert Henry Curtis Lawson on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Misericordia Health Centre at the age of 79 years. Remaining to forever cherish Ab's memory are his loving wife, Isabel (nee MacGregor) of 56 years of marriage; four children Curtis (Patsy), Janice (Dwayne), Heather (George), Lorna (Roger), 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Alberta and Henry Lawson, his brother and sister-in-law Harry and Ardy Lawson and grandson Daniel Ryckenboer. Ab was born in Waskada, MB on May 13, 1930. His working career of over 35 years with C.P. rail took him to Selkirk, Gimli, Carberry, Clearwater, Nesbitt, Moose Jaw and finally, Winnipeg. Ab retired as a Manager Branchline Rehab. He faced many challenges but always met them face on. In 1976 he joined Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a proud and active member of the St. Vital group, Tuxedo group, First Step group and Grace group. He was devoted to service to others on the personal and committee levels and loved to speak. He made many good friends in the AA community. On Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., Ab's funeral service will be held in the Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive Winnipeg, MB. A private family Graveside Service will be held in the St. Vital City Cemetery. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Joe and Rob for their dedication and support and to Cornish 2 for their great care of Albert. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ab's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or charity of one's choice.
