KAREN METZLAFF It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Emily Metzlaff on Friday, December 4, 2009 at the age of 44 years. Remaining to forever cherish Karen's memory are her mother Ruth Metzlaff; brother Ed Meichsner (Lynda); nieces Grace and Olivia, and nephew Jack, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father Otto Metzlaff, paternal grandparents Emil and Emma Metzlaff and her maternal grandparents Pastor John-Henry and Emilie Meichsner. She also lost her best friend Ingrid Sigurdson earlier this year. Karen endured many struggles in her short life, but always remained a very loving and caring person. She was devoted to the care of her mother who resided in Lions Personal Care home and spent much of her time there, taking her for coffee or just sitting and visiting with her. She had an easy going nature and a gentle way with elderly people which allowed her to begin a new career in homecare services. A hairdresser by trade, she took pride in helping people look their best. Part of Karen's family were the numerous and various animals she loved and cared for over the years, as well as her close circle of childhood friends, Ingrid, Lisa and Kevin. Throughout her life Karen had a strong faith in God. It is this faith that gives her family comfort that Karen is now at peace with her Maker. A private service was held in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue celebrating Karen's life. Her final resting place will be with her maternal grandparents in the Town Cemetery in Neudorf, SK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Karen's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. Rest in Peace Toots
