ALEX MELNYCHUK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alex Melnychuk on December 8, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Alex was born in Gardenton, Manitoba, on December 5, 1933 to Wasylka and Konstantine Melnychuk. For the past 28 years he was a resident of the St. Adolphe Nursing Home. He is predeceased by his parents; brother Nick and sister Sophie. Alex is survived by his sister Mary; daughter Betty Balharry; sons Allan (Sue), Eugene (Debbie); ex-wife Elsie; grandchildren Ciji Marie, Deziree, Reyanne, Tony and Alexandra; sister-in-law Olga; as well as nieces and nephews. Alex was employed at Motor Coach and Versatile for a number of years. Before he took ill Alex loved to dance and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially during Christmas. He was always the one to get the party started with his upbeat nature. He could always be counted on to start the family off with Ukrainian Christmas carols. We will always treasure the laughter and cherish the memories that Alex would bring to any event. The family would like to express their thanks to all the dedicated staff at the St. Adolphe nursing home for the care and compassion they showed Dad during his stay throughout the years. As well a special thank you to Bill Stefiuk for your continued support to Dad throughout the years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thomson Funeral Home. Alex will be laid to rest in Arbakka, Manitoba, at a later date, alongside his parents and brother. Dad, may you dance with the Angels in heaven.
