KARYN ROCHELLE GLOBERMAN November 14, 1955 - November 30, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karyn on November 30, 2009 at Riverview Health Centre after a brief but courageous battle with kidney cancer. Karyn was predeceased by her brother Nathan in 1982. Karyn will be sadly missed by her husband Danny, her children Adam (Dobrochna), Noah (Samantha), and Simmie, her parents Harvey and Sylvia Pollock, and her brother Martin (Randee). Karyn will also be missed by her sister-in-law Judy Globerman (Clo), her brother-in-law David Globerman (Sidelle) and her nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Karyn was born in Winnipeg, the eldest of three children. Born with a smile and a disposition that would light up any room, she was the center of attention for her family and their many close friends. These friends became aunts and uncles to her, providing a beloved extended family. For Karyn, the narrative of her life that made her life meaningful to her and to us was that she was a doer and a giver - a giver of love, ideas, help, advice, and above all, friendship. We went to Karyn for her straightforward views, her counsel, her coaching, and her no-nonsense way of communicating that was both grounding and honest. A consummate caregiver, Karyn was an outstanding physiotherapist, working for over twenty years at St. Boniface General Hospital. Leaving no stone unturned, intimidated by no one, as a strong patient advocate, Karyn would push the health system to deliver the best care that could be provided. Everyone at the hospital knew and respected Karyn for her warmth, her passion, and her perseverance. She approached her life and that of her family and friends with an enthusiasm and energy that were infectious and bold. Her maternal mania enveloped her daily life as she moved from child to child, friend to friend and project to project, tirelessly helping and loving them. She made a home filled with people, with laughter, with half-folded laundry and a sink full of dishes, where what was really important was to live life fully and honestly with those she loved. Karyn received excellent care at the St. Boniface General Hospital and Riverview Health Centre. Special thanks to the staff of 4A South at St. Boniface General Hospital, Dr. Wong, Kathy Kyryluk and nursing staff at Cancer Care and to Dr. Garcia, Dr. Hiebert, and nursing staff of 3E at Riverview Health Centre. Donations in Karyn's memory may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation at (204) 237-2067.
