RHONDA GAIL SALTNER (1958 - 2009) There is a new angel in Heaven and she used to belong to us. Rhonda will be watching down on those she left behind. They include her parents, Gordon and Irene Saltner; sisters, Michelle Devries (Alan and Kevin), Kelly Golembiski, husband Dennis (Corissa, Tyler and Keith). She was known as the FAVOURITE Aunty by her niece and nephews. What a beautiful difference one life made. Although we will miss her terribly, we know in our hearts that she will always be here. She will be that guardian angel on the shoulder of everyone who loved her. After a long and brave battle with two primary cancers, Rhonda passed away on December 5, 2009. We take comfort in knowing she touched many lives during her time on Earth. Over the years she either helped organize or participated in many events that would benefit those less fortunate than herself. She spread her wings when it came to helping with The Fire Fighter Burn Fund, The Cancer Society, The Red Cross, Dragon Boat Racing, The Salvation Army, Winnipeg Harvest, Women's Shelters and those less fortunate than herself. Every summer Rhonda picked the crab apples off our parent's tree and took them to food banks, she donated her new unwanted and used items to women's shelters and collected eye glasses to be shipped overseas for less fortunate people to benefit. When it came to collecting prizes for Fundraisers there wasn't a person who could out do her. She had a knack with people. Rhonda had her very own guardian angel. His name was Billy. He came into Rhonda's life by chance awhile ago. He was the one who sat for endless hours during this past week holding Rhonda's hand. Comforting, consoling and making her laugh. Wow, how she lit up when he walked in the room. Rhonda was employed at MTS for the past 32 years. She had many stories to tell about her workplace, some funny some rather interesting. She put her heart and soul into helping the people she worked with especially the installers working outside in the elements. A celebration of life will be held at the Elmwood Legion, 920 Nairn Avenue, December 17, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. There's a new Angel in Heaven now, And she used to belong to me. But God said he needed her, For reasons we can't see. She was always a loving child, All she had to do was smile. But now the Lord is holding her. We only had her for a while. I never thought we'd have to give her up, And that we'd have an Angel of our own. But she was a very special lady. That was given to us on loan. We pray that soon the hurt will heal, And the tears will soon be dry. We know Rhonda is where she wants to be, and we'll soon stop asking why. There's a new Angel in Heaven now. Thank you, Lord, for loaning her for awhile. It was only for a short time, But she always made us smile. Flowers are gratefully declined. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I went to school 1-12 with Rhonda. I liked her because she was always friendly to me . I used to bump into frequently during the 80's and she would always stop and chat for a while. I remember creating a huge Stegasaurus mural with her for a project in grade two. I got to bring it home and it was longer than our basement! It does not suprise me that Rhonda was so supportive to charitable causes, That was the type of person that she was. I am very sad today. Life is indeed too short.
