ARTHUR JOSEPH AMBROSE Peacefully, on December 9, 2009, Arthur Joseph Ambrose, 90 years young, passed away with his loving wife at his side. He was born May 19, 1919 in Cabri, Saskatchewan to parents Alice and William Ambrose. He is survived by his wife Edith (Reddaway), sons Art, Ian (Lorraine), Glen (Shelley), and Greg (Patricia), stepsons Raymond, Melvin and Milton(Deb) Stepdaughters Dona (Claire), Diane (Gary), and Betty (Marvin) many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Art served in the Second World War with the Winnipeg Grenadiers, and was a Hong Kong Veteran. Post wartime had him making ends meet, driving cab for Duffy's and Veterans Nash Taxi. Later, he was an employee of Canada Post in Winnipeg, staying there for 24 years, and fortunate enough to retire at age 60. He was an avid golfer, and curler, having won the city championships (1973-1974). Art Edith sent many days looking over his green space view from his Portage Avenue Condo balcony overlooking Sturgeon Creek. A petlover, Art enjoyed catering to his cat Fluffy. She pretty much ran the household. Art was very family-oriented, always visiting family during holidays. He loved to drive, and never flew anywhere he could get to by car. Always enjoyed visits from friends and relatives during his stay at Deer Lodge Hospital. A SPECIAL thanks to the 6th floor staff at Deer Lodge Center whom were OUTSTANDING with the care Dad received. Funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on Monday, December 14, 2009. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Deer Lodge Center or to the charity of your choice.
