NELLIE BOGAN (DRABYK) October 7, 1918 - December 9, 2009 With family at her side, Nellie Bogan passed away peacefully at age 91 at the Middlechurch Care Home. Nellie was born to pioneering parents Dmytro and Anna Drabyk and grew up in the Brightstone area. In 1941 she married William (Bill) Bogan and they resided in the Rosser area before moving to Winnipeg in 1953. Memories of Nellie will be held by daughters Margaret Bogan and Carol (Ron) Knowles of Winnipeg; and son Jerry (Debbie) of Woodbury, MN. Nellie was a loving Baba to Christopher, Jeffrey (Candice) and Lauren (Trevor). Also left to mourn her passing are sister-in-law Julia Drabyk of Lac Du Bonnet and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Nellie was predeceased by her parents, husband Bill; brothers Mike and Steve, and sisters Barbara Switek and Mary Hincks. Nellie's greatest life passion was tending to her garden ( The North Forty ), which she maintained for many years. Friends and family enjoyed an abundance of fresh vegetables each summer. Nellie's Ukrainian home was always open to friends and family. Visitors never left without tasting the home cooking that Nellie loved to prepare. Nellie enjoyed travelling and visiting dear family in Hamilton and Kitchener. She also made trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas. Perhaps her memorable trips returned her to her Ukrainian roots, where she reconnected with her nephew Vladimir and his family. This relationship remained strong until her passing. A funeral service will be held at Cropo Chapel, 1442 Main Street at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009 with Deacon V. Humniski officiating. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Holy Family Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. B. Gorski for his many years of care, as well as sincere gratitude to the staff of Middlechurch Care Home for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nellie's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society as she had a love of animals. Vichnaya Pam'yat
