VERA RIEDEL (nee Elko) Vera Riedel (nee Elko) passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, December 13, 2009. Vera was born June 18, 1916 in Morris, MB. She met her husband Emil Riedel in Winnipeg where they lived until they retired in their country home in the Anola area. Vera was predeceased by her husband Emil, parents Michael and Julia Elko and sisters Mary, Rose, Ann and Pauline. She is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Vera is the last of her generation on both sides of the family. Aunt Vera is remembered for her wit and enthusiasm for life, perseverance, artistic talent and culinary skills. She is especially remembered for her impeccable taste in personal appearance. Aunt Vera, you lived a full life; rest in peace beside your husband. Many thanks to the staff at East Gate Lodge and her homecare worker for the care and concern given to Aunt Vera during her stay. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel with Pastor A. Litvinov officiating. Viewing will take place prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Millbrook Cemetery on Briercliff Road, south of Pth #15 west of Anola. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Vera's memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Beausejour, MB, East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, MB or a charity of one's choice.
