BRIAN WINSTEN ANS It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Brian Ans, on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the age of 68 years. Beloved husband of 48 years to Arlene, Dad to daughter Laurie and son Don (Darlene), Papa to Sarah and Laura, brother to Norma, and cookie dispenser to Ginger. Brian was predeceased by favorite son-in-law Bernard, his parents Art and Gladys, and his brother Glenn. Born in Rennie, Brian moved to Winnipeg in the 60's. Brian and Arlene resided at 23 Sage for 35 years, when they moved to the lake. He originally worked at the family garage in Rennie, then moved to Sportsman Enterprises, Outboard Marine sales and service, Great River Road Marine, and then started his own business to work with Manitoba Lodges and Outfitters, Mid-Canada Marine Dealers, Manitoba Snowmobile Industry Assoc., the boat show and the snowmobile show. Brian enjoyed his relationships with the many people that he worked with - people that are special to the family to this day. He loved all the outdoor sports concerned with the burning of gasoline. He introduced his friends and family to boating, watercraft, snowmobiling, and camping. Brian's favorite stories were from hunting and fishing in his youth, weekends at Barry's island, the squadron boat trips to Lake of the Woods, and snowmobiling in the Whiteshell. His crowning achievement was the purchase of the motor-home, which took Brian and Arlene all over the States and western Canada. Brian's life will be celebrated on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., in the Ross United Church in Whitemouth, MB with Rev. A. Cooke presider. Following the service a reception will be held in the Whitemouth Community Center. Special Thank You's to the staff at the Beausejour Hospital and Health Sciences Center. Brian's last days were made special with the support of friends and relatives that stopped by to cheer him up. Flowers gratefully declined due to family allergies. Memorial Donations in Brian's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Mrs. Ans, Don, Laurie and family - I am so sorry about the passing of Mr. Ans (I still can't call him "Brian" because I've known him since I was a kid). What a great guy! Big smile, big laugh, big man, and an even bigger heart. Kind and gentle. Good, good memories ... My sincere condolences. - Posted by: Graham Robson (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2009
