CARL THEODORE (TED) ARNOLD Carl Theodore (Ted) Arnold, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on December 14, 2009 at 89 years of age. Ted is survived by his loving wife Martha of 62 years, four children, June (Alfred) Hormann; Diane (Kent) Forsland; Linda Hegg; and Jim (Diane) Arnold and nine grandchildren Darcey, Mark, and Sarah Hormann; Beck (Elav) Anderson; Jana and Chris Forsland; Martin, Anita, and Melanie Hegg. Also cherishing his memory are his sisters Gladys (Herb) Mowat of Edmonton, Alberta; Grace (Albert) Frost of Teulon; and Gwen (Al) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and sister-in-law Dagmar Arnold of Winnipeg. Ted was predeceased by his sister Lillian, and brothers Laurie and Douglas. Ted was born February 23, 1920 in Arnaud, MB. Later that year his parents, Lorenzo and Petrun, moved the family to a farm in the Framnes district near Arborg where he grew up and attended the Framnes School. Ted began raising poultry at a young age on the family farm and then left home for a time, to work at various occupations. As a teenager he made a life-long choice to serve God. His quiet faith was an important part of his life. Ted met Martha Zimmer in Winnipeg where they were married on May 24, 1947. They built their first house in Boissevain where Ted was employed as a manager of the Hambley Hatchery. In 1949 Ted and Martha returned to Arborg where they built and operated their own hatchery business for fifty years. Ted enjoyed being at home caring for his livestock, working his land, and fabricating various innovative projects. He also loved to read, and travelled to many parts of the world through the pages of the National Geographics. Ted will be fondly remembered for his independent spirit and determination. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Arborg Community Hall. Interment will follow in the Arborg Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Ted's memory can be made to the Assisted Living Centre, Box 935 Arborg, MB R0C 0A0. Our husband, dad, and grandpa will be greatly missed. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at the Arborg Hospital and to the staff and residents of the Assisted Living Centre for their care. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
