ANDRE VAN DER VENNET After several years of struggle with serious health problems, Andre Van Der Vennet passed away at the age of 82 years at the Lorne Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Andre leaves to mourn his sister-in-law Therese Van Der Vennet, many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Rene and Emilie (nee Timmerman), his brothers: Cyril, George, Jules and Maurice; his sisters: Mary Van Den Bosch, Julia Gerland and Clarisse Buydens; and a brother and sister at infancy. Andre was born on the family farm on October 19, 1927. He attended school in Bruxelles and St. Alphonse. He remained on the family farm until he moved to Swan Lake in 1979 and continued to farm until 1987. During his life Andre had a variety of interests that evolved as he aged including Belgian bowling, playing his favourite card game bien and gardening. His gardening interest ranged from growing vegetables to growing fruits such as apples, grapes, raspberries, strawberries, plums and pears. Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home in Notre Dame de Lourdes on Sunday, December 20, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, MB on Monday, December 21, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Francis Eworo officiating. Interment to follow at Bruxelles Cemetery. Andre's family wish to thank the staff of the Dialysis Unit and Dr. Bob Menzies of the Boundary Trails Hospital and Dr. Gerard Desmond and the nursing staff of the Lorne Memorial Hospital for the care he received. In addition we want to thank three special people: Ray Lesprance, Larry Van Cauwenberghe and Ivy Williams, for their care and dedication in driving Andre to his dialysis treatments for the last six years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lorne Memorial Palliative Care Unit, Box 40, Swan Lake, MB R0G 2S0. Adam's Funeral Home of Notre Dame, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
