KENNETH (GARY) GARFIELD BARBOUR Peacefully, on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the age of 72 years, Gary passed away at the Gimli Community Health Centre. Gary will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years Lynne; daughter Nikki; son Rory; grandchildren Christine, Erin, Jordan and Micheal. Also mourning his loss are his brother Wayne (Sandra); Gary's niece Shanon; nephew Chris; his many friends as well as the Ham radio community. Gary was predeceased by his son Kenneth Barbour; parents Andrew and Vera Barbour; in-laws Stoney and Jean Eliasson and brother-in-law Wayne Eliasson. Gary was born on March 5, 1937, and raised in Winnipeg. For the past 13 years he made his home in Whytewold, Manitoba. Gary's greatest passion in life other than his family was his love of travelling over the airways on his Ham radio. He has achieved many communication awards from being able to communicate all over the world and his greatest Ham radio achievement was his contact with the NASA space station. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Gimli Hospital for all their support, it was greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gary's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. As per Gary's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
