H.G. (HAL) GERAGHTY July 9, 1931 December 17, 2009 After a brave battle with several health issues, Hal passed away at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Thursday, December 17, 2009. Hal will be deeply missed by his loving wife Betty and daughters Patti Kurgan (John), Leigh (John Wilson), Sharon (Paul Wickens) and Kathleen Champagne (Bob). His grandchildren Alex and Jackie (Kurgan), Ian and Claire (Wilson), Megan and Grace (Wickens) and David and Cassie (Champagne) will always remember their Popeye . His surviving siblings, Velma, Betty and Justin Geraghty, will also miss him dearly. Hal leaves a giant hole. He generously shared his talents for organization and his leadership skills by serving as president of his condominium board and by spearheading many community initiatives throughout his life. He was an avid bridge player and he and his favourite partner, Betty, played in a number of bridge groups including the duplicate bridge group Hal started at his condominium. Former Vice-President of Steinbergs, Hal had a stellar business career. Hal was exceptionally bright and had a strong work ethic, balanced by genuine compassion for others. He valued family and loyalty above all. He did not go gentle into that good night. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. A memorial service in Hal's honour will be held at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. A Book of Memories may be signed at www.wardfuneralhome.com
