EMIL STASIUK June 3, 1940 - December 17, 2009 In peace, with his family at his side, Emil was called into Kingdom of Heaven after suffering through complications of cardiac illness. Emil will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his surviving wife, Isabelle; his children, David (Nicole), Dan and Debbie (Derik); his stepchildren, Bonnie (Doug), Dale (Sandra) and Carol (Dean). Four precious grandchildren and eight beautiful step-grandchildren will sadly miss Gigi. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ollie; his parents, Peter and Anne Stasiuk; his parents-in-law, Fanny and Steve Kulikowski; brothers-in-law, Adam Kulikowski and Walter Chubaty; and sister-in-law Marion (Minnie) Dalman. He leaves to mourn his sister Janet (Tony); brother Jerry (Johanna); sister-in-law Evelyn and brother-in-law Herb, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. The memory of dear husband Emil and our father will be one of a gentle, kind and honest nature. His presence brought comfort and smiles to those around him, even in difficult times. His devotion to his Christian faith served as a pillar in his existence and he lived his life with that foundation always in place. His meticulous nature was evident in the manner he kept his homestead. His passion for gardening, yard work and nature itself served as both a hobby and an outlet of fun for him. His deep connection with the sports world kept him occupied both as a player and fan at varying times in his life. His most recent induction into Manitoba's Baseball Hall of Fame as a prior member of the Vita Cubs served as an example of his interests and talents in sports. Emil grew up in Caliento, Manitoba and attended both Strand School and Caliento High School. His career as a young man began at Versatile Industries and ultimately he settled into managerial and leadership roles at both Locomart/IGA stores, as well as in a retail counselor role with Western Grocers Inc., following in the footsteps of his own parents who were also store owners. Gentle and unassuming, loving and devoted, Emil's impact on those around him will always be remembered and his virtues will be instilled in all of us forever. Final respects and goodbyes will begin with prayers to be held Monday, December 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, Manitoba. Funeral services and Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, December 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in East Selkirk, Manitoba with Father Peter Chorney officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the East Selkirk Cemetery Fund, in care of Stella Dubas, R.R #1, RMBI, East Selkirk, Manitoba R0E 0M0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
