DONALD GIFFORD ARCHER March 21, 1955 - December 17, 2009 With great courage and dignity after a brief illness, Don passed away at home with his family by his side. Don was born and raised in Toronto a city held close to his heart where he met his life partner, Judi Bauer. They married in 1990 and relocated to Winnipeg in 1992. Don enjoyed a varied and interesting career which included politics, advertising, communications and fund raising and spent the last nine years working for Transitional Living Centres with brain injured adults. Don had a passion for learning and was always willing to share his extensive knowledge of historical and military events and was an avid soccer, baseball and football fan. He was a generous, kind and loving man who brought much joy and enthusiasm into everything he did. Don leaves behind with heavy hearts his wife Judi, mother-in-law Ollie, sisters-in-law Linda (Ken), Robyn (Dean), nieces and nephews Andrew, Alina (Mike), Jessica (Joseph), Christopher (Hillary), Katie (Gord) and Joey along with many extended family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his father-in-law Lloyd Bauer and sister-in-law Debbie Leite. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Monday, December 28 at St. Alphonsus Hall, 341 Munroe Avenue at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to cancer care or a charity of your choice may be made. Warm sun shine kindly here; Warm Southern wind blow softly here; Green sod above lie light, lie light - Goodnight dear heart, goodnight, goodnight.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • It was in wondering about "what ever happened to" after recalling childhood and teenage years that I learned of Don's passing. Not having seen Don since we left high school, I know nothing of his life since that time. However, that does not diminish his presence in my memory and heart, such was our friendship over the many years growing up in Scarborough. I was happy to read of his happiness with his wife and family in his adopted home of Winnipeg. - Posted by: Mike Dunbar (Friend from childhood) on: Feb 06, 2014
