Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ARCHIBALD WARDROP (ARCHIE) December 4, 1921 - December 20, 2009 Archie died with his children at his side after enduring years of Alzheimers Disease. Dad is survived by his loving wife Barbara, son Don (Jo-Ann) and daughter Marilyn. Archie was born and grew up in Whitemouth where he enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing. He worked on his Uncle Dave's farm, and at the local brickyard. Joining the army in 1940 at age 18, he was sent overseas to Britain. Dad married his beloved Barbara McKenzie in Scotland on New Years Day 1943. A proud member of the 8th RECCE, he fought in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. After the war, Dad apprenticed as a watchmaker at Birk's. He moved to Eaton's where he worked until his retirement, first in Watch Repair at the Annex, then as an Estimator for Watch and Jewellery Repairs at Polo Park. Archie was an avid sports fisherman and master angler. He was a member of the Dormer Lodge and the Prince Edward Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Dad was an honourable man who always put his wife and children first. Special thanks to Dr. Ray Martens and the wonderful staff of Courage Bay, River East Personal Care Home. Cremation has taken place, and no service will be held. A private interment will take place.
