Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIC G. ROBERTS 1921 - 2009 Quietly, on Saturday, December 19, 2009, Eric G. Roberts passed away after a long and memorable life. Born and raised in North Kildonan, Eric was the eldest of the five Roberts boys. He attended Lord Kitchener School and Red River Community College where he studied metallurgy. As a heat treater, he worked with Pydee Engineering before taking the position of machinist at the Shell Refinery in St. Boniface where he worked until his retirement. His first job though, was working on the Vandehorst farm during the summer months. One of his many passions was paddling at the Kildonan Canoe Club on the Red River where he remained an active member for decades and served as the Club's Commodore for a time. Another passion was music, particularly with Barbershopping that kept him actively ringing out chords and tag lines for over 50 years and was a lifetime member. His creative gifts blossomed in his retirement years as he began carving intricate decoys and song birds. He was a member of the LaVerendrye Game and Fish Association for many years and was an ardent hunter and fisherman. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Pat, of 62 years; daughter Tracy (Paul), grandchildren Brent and Gillian; brothers Don (Wilma), and Ken (Ruth); sisters-in-law Jewel, Bernice and Corinne; nieces, nephews and their families; Godsons Martin Roberts and Gord Enns. Eric was predeceased by his parents, George and Laural (Mottershead) Roberts; brothers Herb and Albert; brother-in-law James Burns. Cremation will be honoured at Eric's request and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, at 7:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1879 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to the charity of your choice. Many thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of Concordia Hospital and the many homecare workers for their compassion.
