EMMA LAMB Emma was born June 13, 1915 to James and Catherine Johnston in Ottawa, Ontario, and died December 17, 2009. She married James Edward Lamb on March 21, 1940. They lived in Quebec City until moving to Winnipeg in 1959. Emma worked for the Government of Manitoba in the mines branch until she retired in 1980. During her retirement years, she enjoyed bowling and was a tireless volunteer for CancerCare Manitoba. She truly enjoyed bringing hot soup, coffee and tea to the patients and visiting with them as they waited for treatment. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star Crescent Chapter in Ottawa and an active member of the Jeptha Chapter in Winnipeg. She was proud to receive her 70 year pin from the Crescent Chapter this past summer. Emma loved her family, sons Jim and John and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always generous with her time and attention as they grew up. She enjoyed holiday gatherings and could always be counted on for a good hot cup of tea at any time. Emma is survived by her sons, Jim, Teulon, Manitoba, and John (Karen), Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba; grandchildren, Micah (Alex), Bloomington, Indiana, Matthew (Laura), Ortonville, Minnesota, and Amy, Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Sophia, Ortonville, Minnesota and Etienne, Bloomington, Indiana; brother Doug (Joan) Johnston, Winnipeg, Manitoba, sister, Joan (George) Broder, Ottawa, Ontario, and numerous nieces and nephews. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed, sister Isabelle MacIntyre and brother Jack Johnston. The family wishes to thank Helen Vince for being such a good friend to our mother, especially in the past few years and the nurses and Dr. Rizk at the Teulon hospital for the incredible care during her short stay there. At Emma's request cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army. Those we hold most dear never truly leave us they live on in the kindnesses they showed, the comfort they shared and the love they brought into our lives. Isabelle Norton
