Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSEL GEORGE GRAHAM December 2, 1948 - December 23, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russel Graham on December 23, 2009. Russel leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Bernice, and their three children, Sandi, Greg (Debbie), and Thaine. He will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren, Cameron (Amy), Aeryk, Brendan, Kayla, Danyon, Shayna, and Summer. Russel also leaves behind his mother, Eva, and his siblings Ron, Patricia, and Peg. He was predeceased by his father Bill and his brother-in-law Frank. Russel was born in Winnipeg and resided there most of his life. As a child, he loved spending the summers in Bowsman, MB with his Uncle George and Aunty Viola on their farm. He married his grade school sweetheart Bernice in 1969 and they started their family shortly thereafter. Russel spent most of his working life at McEwen Bros. both as an employee and an owner. He particularly enjoyed mentoring his sons, Greg and Thaine, in the ways of the landscaping business. He made friends quickly with his dry wit and vast knowledge about almost everything. The last part of his employed life was spent working with his best friend Joe Cabral. The family would like to thank Joe for his unwavering kindness and support throughout Russel's illness. As long as he was able to drive, Russel was at Joe's yard. Whenever he wasn't working, Russel could likely be found at an ice rink watching his grandchildren play hockey. One of his last requests was to attend an ice and ball hockey game so he could watch the family play. A former hockey player himself, Russel was an outstanding fan, critiquing all aspects of the game and offering advice whenever he could. Russel had a special bond with each of his grandchildren, often playing the role of father when needed. Pa loved taking them up to Bowsman and Bell Lake for some fishing and boating whenever time allowed. His patience, knowledge, sense of humour, caring nature, and understanding way will be sorely missed by them. The family would also like to thank the staff of the E3 ward at Riverview, particularly Dr. Robin McClure and Bonnie, for their professionalism and caring disposition. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society on his behalf. Rest now Dad ... we will take over from here.
