Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD BISHOP PAUL May 20, 1920 - December 16, 2009 Peacefully with his family by his side, Leonard passed away at Concordia Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Percival and Esther, and son-in-law Rod. Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Gerd, daughter Dorothy Johnson of Ottawa, son Ralph (Leah) of Winnipeg, daughter Nancy Miller (Ed) of Portage la Prairie, grandchildren, Steve Johnson (Kris), Laura Gagnon (Pierre); Derek Paul (Marnie), Scott Paul and Bonnie Paul (Adam); Leanne, Kara-Jean and Brett Miller; great-grandsons, David and Aidan Johnson; Gabriel, Griffin and Gibson Gagnon. Leonard's brother Howard, sisters Mary Plantje and Esther Young, all of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Jean Nyhus of Penticton, BC. Leonard was born and raised in St. Vital and lived there for most of his life. Leonard farmed the land and took pride in making it beautiful. After selling the farm in 1976, they moved to Southdale where his pride continued with his garden. Leonard worked for Canada Malting for 30 years and retired in 1985. Moving to their condo three years ago, both Leonard and Gerd were able to enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding their home. Leonard and Gerd met through their involvement in the Salvation Army in 1947. Later Leonard and Gerd become members of St. Vital Baptist Church now known as Willowlake. Leonard was a devoted Christian whose life was guided by his unwavering faith. His warm smile and helping hand will be missed and never forgotten. Special thanks go out to the staff of 2E at the Concordia Hospital and the chaplain Kathleen for their care and compassion. Also thanks to our pastor Mark Doerksen for his support. We invite you to join us in a celebration of Leonard's life at Glen Lawn Memorial on Monday, December 28 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, donations in Leonard's name can be made to the charity of their choice or to Willowlake Baptist Church at 45 Willowlake Crescent.
