HILDA MARY LARGE April 23, 1913 - December 19, 2009 Hilda died peacefully in her sleep at Grace Hospital. Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Jack; by her parents, William and Lizzie Hirst and by an infant brother. She is survived by her sister, Ellen Hirst; in-laws, Donald Large of Winnipeg, Hedy Large of Toronto; relatives in England and good friends, Janis and Fay. Hilda was born in Winnipeg but grew up in Kenora, ON. She attended Normal School in North Bay, ON and taught school in Osaquan, ON and Kenora. When the family relocated to Winnipeg in 1935, she changed careers and took a secretarial course at Success Business College. Upon graduating she became secretary at Henry Birks and Sons until her marriage in 1954. She and Jack moved to Dorval when he was transferred by Air Canada. Upon his retirement, they returned to Winnipeg. Hilda was fond of gardening and outdoor activities. She was an accomplished figure skater. She and Jack travelled extensively until Jack's health failed. In latter years she enjoyed her residency at the Wellington where she made many friends. Cremation has taken place. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date in the family plot in Kenora, ON.
