JANET ELIZABETH CLARK -
Date of Passing: Dec 18, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANET ELIZABETH CLARK 1943 - 2009 On December 18, 2009 after a lengthy illness, Janet has found peace at last. Janet was born in Toronto, the youngest daughter of the late Robert Reid of Ballybofey, Donegal, and Marjorie Reid of Middlesex County in Southern Ontario. Janet chose a medical career after high school, graduating from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in September, 1964, and completing her certification in Intensive Care Nursing in 1968. Always a professional in her work place and with family and friends, she was instrumental in the successful births of her sister Sheila's two children. In the latter part of her career she pursued scientific research in many fields including the Manitoba Farmers Lung Disease, and in the laboratory at the Delta Research Station. Besides nursing, Janet had a passion for gardening. She created a garden wherever she lived including the first roof garden in the Exchange District. Janet liked to surround herself with books, university lectures, music (especially Glen Gould) and the CBC. She had an amazing mind that loved to learn and challenge. She was predeceased by her husband, Manitoba artist Kelly Clark, in 1995. As befits a care-giver, Janet was very grateful for the good care given to her during her illness: the St. Boniface General Hospital, Shauna and the staff at Fred Douglas Heritage House; the Health Action Centre, in particular Dr. Ruth Simkin; and Misericordia Health Centre. A special thank you to the caring staff on CD-4 (especially Judy, Judy and Mila) at Riverview Health Centre who were there at the end to help us say goodbye. Janet will be dearly missed by her Winnipeg family, sister Sheila Reid and nieces Laurie Bleeks and Karen Watt; her Edmonton family, sister Margy May and nieces Joanna and Tracy Rowan; as well as her cousin Joan Hoogeveen in London; and many cousins and friends in Winnipeg and across the country. A private celebration honouring Janet's life has taken place.

I met Janet at a workshop. She introduced to the work of her husband Kelly. She knew what his work offered in his Cancer Series. His final work. My journey with his work changed my own journey of inner healing. I will always be grateful to Janet for trusting me with his work. Her memory lives on.... in my heart. - Posted by: Janice Shaski (Mulder) (Friend ) on: Feb 10, 2021
