Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENEA CALZADO AYTONA Change in Time of Service In peace and comfort, our beloved mother passed away with family at her side at Poseidon Care Centre on December 22, 2009. She was born in the Philippines on September 2, 1916. She was predeceased by her husband, Aurelio Aytona in 1971, parents: Maria and Servillano Calzado, and siblings: Primitivo Calzado, Filomena Pedrasa, Anastacia Dalisay, Casiana Diaz, and Eufracio Calzado. Mom will be deeply missed by her children: Lito (Teddy) Aytona, Evangeline (Andy) Rodriquez, Adoration (Rolly) Yorobe, Luzviminda Schweighoffer, Yolanda (Nestor) Conti, Rod (Luz) Aytona, Edna (Bob) Austman, and Nimpha (Glenn) Sutherland, along with 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, siblings: Virgilio Calzado, Emilia Diaz, and extended family. A widow during her middle years, she worked very hard to help support her family. She had an entrepreneurial talent and managed many different small businesses. She was strong willed, had a tremendous determination, and always held her head high with what she had done. In 1974, she came to Canada where she embraced the joy of helping to raise extended family. Her life was her family, of whom she was always proud. She was a devout Catholic who spent hours reading her prayer books. She also loved to shop, sew, and cook. She was known for her love of story telling, quick wit, jokes, dancing, singing, and having fun with family and social gatherings. Family expresses thanks to the staff at Poseidon Care Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Winnipeg, MB. Lamay will take place on December 27 and December 28 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 29 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Thompson In the Park Cemetery with a reception after.
