WILLIAM HENRY SCURFIELD July 21, 1919 - December 27, 2009 With heartfelt sadness, the family would like to announce the passing of our Dad, William Henry Scurfield in his 91st year. Bill was predeceased by the love of his life Gladys on July 19, 2006. They were married in England on December 27, 1940 and had three children. Surviving are Wendy (Ray) Keuling, David (Margaret) and Rick (Tracey). Bill has seven grandchildren, Shannon (Corey) Mann, Scott (Christine) Keuling, Leanne (Bob) Lawrie, Wendy (Brad) Barrow, Allan (Keri), Teresa (Gary) and Mike. Bill enjoyed his great-grandchildren Devin, Brendan, Cameron, Bode, Aksel, Amanda and Jordie. Bill is also survived by his youngest brother Dan. He remained closely connected with his deceased brother Ralph's wife Sonya and his many nieces and nephews who fondly remember Uncle Bill. Bill was born in Winnipeg but always recalled stories of his youth in Ninga and Killarney, Manitoba and Broadview, Saskatchewan. Bill joined the Saskatoon Light Infantry at the age of 20 and served in Canada, UK, Europe and the Mediterranean returning home in 1945 as a Corporal. When he returned he started his career with the CNR as a Locomotive Engineer and retired in 1979 after 35 years of service. A Memorial Reception will be held on Wednesday, December 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Deer Lodge Centre on T5 and T3 for their care and kindness to Bill. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
