IRENE HARRIS (nee McLeod) December 14, 1915 - December 25, 2009 It is with deep sadness and regret we announce the sudden, peaceful passing of our beloved Gramma at the age of 94. Never waking Christmas morning, she slipped away shortly after noon at Concordia Hospital with family by her side. Gramma will be forever missed by her son Ted (Carol) of New Jersey, grandson Kent (Marybeth), Maddy and Jack, granddaughter Sue (Kevin), Matt (Amber) and Lily all of Minneapolis; daughter Audrey (Dennis) of Gimli, granddaughter Janine (Craig), Scot and Kurt of Selkirk, granddaughter Charlene (Craig), Dylan and Bryce of Winnipeg; nieces Ellen McLaren, Myrna and Linda McLeod; grandnieces Shirley and Linda Hygaard, as well as many relatives and friends, but mostly by her best friend of more than 60 years, Mary Alice (Benny) Dahlgren. They spoke nearly every night before bed to review their day's events. Irene was predeceased by her son Ross (1973), her grandson Jimmy (1976), and her husband of 52 years, Jack (1987). Our family wishes to thank the staff at Park Manor for their attentiveness and compassion. They treated Gramma with great care and dignity over the past 14 years. Pallbearers will be Mike Chorney, David Dahlgren, Frank and Stuart Hygaard, Wayne Rudyk and Harvey Yeo. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave.; viewing at 10:00 a.m., followed by service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Irene's memory to Park Manor Personal Care Home Building Fund, 301 Redonda, Winnipeg, MB. R2C1L7.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I send my condolences to Ted and the Harris family and Mrs. Dahlgren. Irene along with my mother Mrs. Mc Nally was one of the "neighbor ladies" that met at Mrs. Dahlgrens on a regular basis. I appreciated her wisdom, compassion and understanding and I am sure she will be sadly missed. Barbara (McNally) Tabata - Posted by: Barbara (McNally) Tabata (Friend) on: Jan 05, 2010
