PETER FOLEY With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Peter Francis Foley on December 27, 2009, he was 54 years old. He is survived by his mother Beulah Foley of Harbour Grace, NL, sisters Diane (Tom) Mahoney, Suzanne (Trevor) Williams and brother Michael (Barbara) Foley. Left to mourn is his one and only love, wife Bernice and their children Nicole (Andy Freiheit) Foley, Jacqueline Foley and Bernard Foley, and the apple of his eye, 20 month old grandson Parker Freiheit. Peter was predeceased by his father Bernard Foley in 1971. That same year at the age of 16 he met his sweetheart and soul mate Bernice, she was 14. In 1976 they were married and on December 18, 2009 they celebrated 33 years of marriage together. Peter was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police from 1975 to 1979 in Nova Scotia. He returned to Newfoundland following his RCMP posting and worked for the Provincial Government. In 1980 he and Bernice pursued new adventures in Alberta where he created his own private investigation firm. It was there that he was approached and hired by Pinkerton's Private Security and Investigations. Peter and his family relocated to Winnipeg, MB where he worked for 18 years as the Vice-president of operations for Western Canada. During those years Peter indulged his love of hockey and coached numerous teams including his most treasured memory of coaching his son. Peter believed strongly in giving back to the community and set this example by donating his security resources for many years to the Manitoba Marathon. After retiring from Pinkerton's he followed his sweetheart in 2001 to Dauphin, MB where she was accomplishing career goals with the Royal Bank of Canada. In that same year Peter and Bernice embarked on a new challenge by purchasing and operating Westmore Domo Convenience Centre. Peter was a very strong man yet a kind man who was always ready to smile. He was a devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather. He instilled in his children a moral compass and taught them the importance of respect, loyalty, integrity, honesty and love. He will live on in our hearts forever and will always guide us. We love you daddy. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel in Dauphin, MB with Pastor Howard Burnie officiating. Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Peter may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3J2.
