ELGIN EARL LARTER It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Elgin Earl Larter on December 26, 2009, beloved husband and best friend of Lorraine for 48 years, father of Tim, and Papi to Reed Allen, Jordyn and Jhett Larter. Elgin was born in Bowsman, MB on July 26, 1938. He was employed with the Manitoba Government, Highways Department for 42 years until his retirement on December 31, 1999. Elgin enjoyed fishing at Paint Lake, Thompson, big game and bird hunting with his son and buddies. He also enjoyed three winters in Texas with friends golfing and socializing until he could no longer travel. Elgin leaves to mourn his loving wife Lorraine; son Tim and children; sisters Helen (Paul), Ilene (George) and Winnie (Ron); sister-in-law Barbara (Jack); brother-in-law Jim Miller along with numerous nephews and nieces and their families who thought very highly of Uncle Elgin. He was predeceased by his parents Garnet and Winnie and two sisters Emily and Elva. Elgin will be sadly missed by his family and good friends - you know who you are'. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Ashern Legion Hall with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Service will conclude at the hall. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, Winnipeg Region Office, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
