LEONA FROESE Leona Froese passed away peacefully December 27, 2009 at Grace Hospice in Winnipeg. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Lydia Froese, sister Heather Green (Don) and their children Chloe and Andee; brother James Froese (Karen) and their children Jordan and Braden; brother Rodney Froese (Lil) and their children Lee and Jonathan; brother David Froese (Doreen) and their children Audrey Vander Spek (Peter) and Darryl; brother Harold Froese (Jocelyn) and their children Kevin (Marilou), Aaron, Colin (Nicole), and Jennifer. Leona was predeceased by her father, David in 1992. She will also be missed by many friends who loved her dearly. Leona was born December 17, 1956 and enjoyed growing up on the farm at Oak Bluff with her family. After graduating from Sanford Collegiate and Winkler Bible Institute, she obtained her education degree from University of Manitoba. Her passion was teaching autistic students for almost 20 years in Winnipeg. The enduring relationships with her students and their families was an example to all of us. Leona loved her family and was always the one organizing family events for all of us. She was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews, always remembering birthdays and special events. She spent a lot of time with our father prior to his passing. Prior to her illness, she was also the key caregiver for our mother. We will miss her deeply. Leona had a wide circle of friends who were very supportive during her cancer treatments. Leona showed amazing strength and complained little about her situation. Faith was the most important thing in Leona's life. She became a Christian in her mid-teens and was a member at Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church until her passing. Leona was a very accepting, caring person, and it was a privilege to have known her. A memorial service to celebrate Leona's life will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church, 1771 Pembina Highway, with reception to follow.

I was a good friend of Leona's, I met her in the apartment block I was living in then. We developed a good friendship. We travelled to B.C together. She always would make me laugh and I always had a good time with her when we were together. I miss all the good talks that we use to have. Thanks for coming into my life. I hope we can meet again. Leona Froese seems like a very nice person. Even though I didn't know her, I have known another wonderful Leona Froese. My dear Mother. "Precious in the sight of the Lord, are the death of His saints". - Posted by: Mark Froese () on: Mar 05, 2016
