PETER GENYK It is with great sadness we announce that in the early hours of Saturday, January 2, 2010, Mr. Peter Genyk passed away at the Concordia Hospital. Mr. Genyk was born on October 9, 1940 in Fisher Branch, Manitoba. He is survived by his wife Sonia, sons Lyle, and Kevin, daughter-in-law Krista, and grandson William. He is also survived by his mother Olga, brother Tony (Mary), sister Pat (Danny), and numerous nieces and nephews. One of Peter's proudest achievements occurred on June 7, 2003 when he, and his fellow teammates of the Chatfield Cardinals from 1952 to 1957 were inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame. At his request there will be no funeral service for Mr. Genyk. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to honour Peter by making a donation in his name to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6, or to the Canadian Hemophilia Society, 400 - 1255 University Street, Montreal, H3B 3B6.
