GORDON FREDERICK LESLIE PILCHER With dignity and respect, Gord, aged 80, passed away with his family at his side at the Seven Oaks Hospital at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 after a valiant battle with heart disease. Gord leaves to mourn his three sons Randy (Wendy), Kevin (Brenda) and Brett (Dawn-Marie); grandchildren Christopher (Amanda), Charlene, (Craig), Brittney and Tristan; great-grandchildren Brooke and Kadence; brother Donald (Barb) and family; sister Joan Cameron and family and special friend Maureen Dickson. Gord was predeceased by his wife Doris in 2001, his parents Percy and Rose Pilcher and his sister Lorraine Henne (Rich). Gord was a proud member of the Winnipeg Police Department for 33 years, retiring in 1986 with the rank of Staff Sargent. Once retired, Gord became a passionate member of the Vintage Locomotive Society (Prairie Dog Central); first as a porter, then engineer and ultimately serving as President. One of his greatest accomplishments was the moving of the station from Portage Avenue to Inkster Blvd. Gord's favourite pastime was travelling to Barbados. He went to Barbados every year for 24 years. Last year he was invited to the Governor's Mansion and offered the country's citizenship. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, across from Brookside Cemetery. A private family interment was held. The family gives special thanks to U1 and U5, 5th floor at Seven Oaks Hospital, especially to nurses Jamie who fought to give Dad one last chance and Sherry (Red) who personally made sure of Dad's comfort and care. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 1160 675 McDermot Ave., R3E 0V9. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204) 949 2200 nbardal.mb.ca
