GARY CHARLES OWENS On January 10, 2010 Gary Owens passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer at age 62. He is predeceased by his father Clark, mother Adeline and brother Wayne. Left to mourn are his wife Beverley, of 37 years; daughter Donna Meikle (Tony); grandchildren, Zachary and Shannon; sister Bernice Owens (Len); nieces and nephews, Kent Owens, Jennifer Reykdal (Kurt), Darcy Krall (Rick), Tracy Sage (Sean), Tara Krall and Karla Owens-Derksen (Scott); and many other friends and relatives. Gary was born July 13, 1947 in Morden, MB and grew up on a farm in Manitou, MB. He later moved to Winnipeg and worked in construction, at C.P.R. signals, WR Grace and Company and Play-All Trophies. He started three businesses: All West Bingo, Superior Bingo and in 1993 Advance Robotic Duct Cleaning. Gary was a real sportsman and enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. He liked Springs Church and the sermons of Pastor Leon Fontaine. He liked to play cards, especially hearts. We will miss his generosity and unique sense of humour. Many thanks for the wonderful care he received from CancerCare St. Boniface Unit. Special thanks to Dr. Ralph Wong and Nurses Shaun West, Cathy Kyriluk, Karen Brandt and all the other nurses and staff and Katie. Thanks to Dr. Coodin and Nurse Linda for all their efforts. There are so many who helped him fight cancer we can't begin to name them all, but you won't be forgotten. Also, thanks to the many friends and family members who have loved and supported Gary and Bev during these difficult times. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16 at 10:30 a.m. in Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). NEIL BARDAL INC. (204) 949 - 2200 nbardal.mb.ca
