Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAPHNE TERMEER (nee Fehr) Peacefully with family by her side, Daphne passed away at home in the early hours of Monday, January 11, 2010. Daphne will be sadly missed by her husband Len; two brothers, Weldon (Shirley) and Jim; her sister Bev (Lorne) and many nieces and nephews. One niece Wendy, who was especially close to Daphne for many years. Along with her stepmother-in-law Doris and sister-in-law Cheryl. Daphne was born at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg on June 6, 1949. She was quickly and dearly nick-named Bid by her Dad and this stuck for the rest of her time. The family, even nieces and nephews, knew her as Auntie Bid. She was raised and schooled in the Gladstone area. During her school years she was a member of the riding club, and of C.G.I.T. church girls group, played volleyball, basketball and obtained a Red Cross Certificate for baby-sitting which she made good use of. After her initial schooling she attended the University of Winnipeg for two years for Business Administration followed by Success Business College. After this she started her working career with Mutual Life of Canada as a secretary. She took extra courses and worked her way up to office supervisor of Property Investments. She worked very hard and progressed quickly in a man's world, at that time. In 1972 she met Len on a blind date and on September 15, 1973 they were married. In her younger years she was very partial to kittens, but after her marriage, her and Len raised five puppies which led to their involvement with the Golden Retriever Club of Manitoba. She loved her time at the cottage in the Whiteshell where she had a beautiful flower garden which she tended with love. She also had time to spend on her other passion, reading. Daphne travelled extensively with Len and also took three memorable trips with her best friend Lorena. A trip to England, Ireland and Scotland was on her own with a tour in 1988. Her gardening skills continued at home with her love for daylilies and hostas. Some of her favourite times were the Lily Festival at Neepawa and Mother's Day plant sale at Assiniboine Park. She always went just' to look and to see what was new and would always come out with her arms full, as well as Len's. The family would like to thank Dr. Pat Harris, the nurses at the Grace Hospital Cancer Care unit and the nurses on the 4th floor. Special thanks to the palliative care nurse Gina, Tony the home care nurse and Angie the morning home care person. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the animal shelter of your choice or the Grace Cancer Care unit would be appreciated. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 15 at 10:30 a.m. in Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr., with viewing one-half hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Gladstone Cemetery in Gladstone, Manitoba. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
