JOHN (JACK) H. MCKAY With sad hearts we announce the passing of John (Jack) H. McKay. Dad is survived by his daughter, Gayle Carriere; daughter-in-law Debby McKay; grandchildren, Tanya (Chris), Sarah (Erik), Jennifer and Dayton; six great- grandchildren; sister-in-law Nancy McLaughlin, his brother Bill and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born July 15, 1919 in Montreal. It was there that he met his childhood sweetheart and love of his life Helen. They were married in Montreal and transferred to Toronto. Jack worked for Al Can Aluminium and was transferred to Winnipeg where Dad became a successful manufacturers' agent, winning many awards for his business accomplishments. Son Glen and daughter Gayle were blessed to have such wonderful, supportive, fun, caring, loving and compassionate parents. Dad was a long time member of the R.C.A.F., the Shriners, Gyros, Granite Curling Club, Niakwa Golf and Country Club, and Wildewood Curling Club. Through business and social events Jack made many friends, some life-long. Dad was an avid sports fan. Being on the Winnipeg Blue Bomber Executive for a number of years, a long time season ticket holder, and only missing two home games in twenty-five years. The sports page was the first one read each day, and activities where scheduled around the Bomber games. He was also a long standing Montreal Canadiens fan. Jack was predeceased by his wife Helen (1972), son Glen (2009), son-in-law Don Carriere (2007), brothers Neil, David, Norman and sister Anne. Dad we will miss your kind and gentle spirit, your sparkling blue eyes and your laughter. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 18 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillvray Blvd. Gayle and family would like to thank the residents and staff of the Waverley Retirement Home and the Ste.
