FLORENCE MURRAY CAMERON After a long and happy life Florence Murray Cameron (nee Edgar) passed away peacefully on January 14, 2010 at the age of 86 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Murray and wife Darlene, their children Kylie (Jon Wilder), Aynsley (Cory Yamashita) and Ian (Aimee), daughter Diana Zier-Vogel and her children Adam, Erin and Kate. Florence was blessed with four Great Grandchildren Ross and Max Wilder, Henry Zier-Vogel and Mylo Yamashita. The Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren were the light of Florence's life and never failed to put a sparkle in her eye. Florence was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Ian Ross Cameron in 1996. Florence was born in Winnipeg to Jean and Jock Edgar. To this day Florence has maintained contact with school friends from all those years ago. Florence met and married Ian during the war years, returning to live in New Zealand briefly after the birth of Murray. They returned to Canada, subsequently moving to Kenora, Ontario. They enjoyed many happy years at their home on Storm Bay Road, Lake of the Woods. Her final years have been spent at Benedickson Court, Kenora, Ontario where she enjoyed participating with fellow residents in all activities. Florence's career was primarily as an accountant with the Province of Ontario. Florence was an active person all her life, enjoying curling, gardening, quilting and crafts. She was involved for many years with The Lake of the Woods Quilters Guild, especially enjoying the yearly quilt show at the Lake of the Woods Museum. In retirement she enjoyed volunteering with the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Guild and taking part in activities at Knox United Church. The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff of the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton and St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, for their kind and compassionate care. As per Florence's wishes interment will take place in Winnipeg at Thomson In the Park Cemetery with family attending. A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church in Kenora, Ontario on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, 409 Tache Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 2A6. • My Mum, Ruby, mentioned above, kept in touch with Florence by letter. I met Florence a number of years ago when she came to a curling event in Glasgow, where we stayed. Mum and I met up with her and took her a trip to Moffat, where Jock was from. We had a great day including a super lunch at the Black Bull pub! Mum died 6 years ago come this April. I was looking through my old address book and came across Florence's addresses and thought I would try to find out if she was still in good health. My search led me to this site. A lovely lady. I am so very sorry. Linda - Posted by: Linda Molvik nee Fair (Adopted daughter of Ruby Fair, nee Edgar, daughter of William Edgar of Moffat,Dumfriesshire, Scotlan) on: Jan 27, 2014
