BERNICE MARGARET DRUCE (nee COLLINS) Bernice, loving wife of Donald, devoted mother of James (Jim) (his wife Karla and their chosen children Diamond, Roger and Linden). Born on Mother's Day, May 9, 1937, died January 16, 2010. She would have celebrated her 73rd Birthday this Mother's Day. Bernice also leaves to mourn her elder sister Marjorie (Charles) Grierson, niece and nephew Maureen Jones and Peter Grierson, their spouses and families, many cousins, dear Auntie Lou, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Madeleine and Harry Collins, infant sister Eleanor and nephew David Grierson. Bernice was a Secretary for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Winnipeg for 16 years, leaving to take on her role as mother to Jim. She was a member for over 50 years of Alpha Iota, a business women's sorority. Bernice worked in Civic, Provincial and Federal Elections in several capacities over a 28 year period. An Avid Bomber fan, and armchair curling viewer, her intense interest in Winnipeg and its growth meant newspaper clippings were sent far and wide to the delight of receivers. Atlantic Avenue United Church was her church home and many of her friends were a part of it. Heartfelt thanks to the nurses, physicians and staff on the Fifth Floor of Women's Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral service to take place at Atlantic-Garden City United Church, Atlantic and Arlington on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
