Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE HIRSCHFIELD (nee GUSHULIAK) It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Lorraine Hirschfield (nee Gushuliak) on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 70 years. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years Albert; sons Randy (Susan), Wayne (Sheila), Barry (Michele); brothers Bill (Rose) and Matt; sister Della; grandchildren Janice, Laura, Eric (Marcy), Justin and Megan; brother-in-law John (Helen); sister-in-law Elizabeth and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents George and Elena; brothers Mike (Lena), Nick and John; sisters Anne (Bill) Chubey and Mary (Fred) Melnychuk; brothers-in-law Martin Hirschfleld and Alex Badiuk; sister-in-law Jackie Gushuliak. Mom was born and raised in Arbakka, MB on the family farm. She first attended Mazeppa School and then Vita School before leaving to work in Winnipeg. After working several jobs and marrying Albert in 1959, Mom and Dad moved to Sundown where they farmed and raised three sons. When the boys became older, Mom worked at the Vita Credit Union up to her retirement. In her retirement, Mom enjoyed gardening, baking buns and goodies (which she shared with everyone), cooking up fabulous Ukrainian dishes with that special touch, chatting on the phone with relatives and friends, and being a special Baba and Grandma who spoiled the grandchildren whenever possible. Mom was a kind, gentle woman who would always give to others before giving to herself. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Centre MICU/CCU for their loving care for Mom during her brief stay. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr. Steinbach, MB with Rev. Fr. Miron Pozniak officiating. A private family ash interment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire donations may be made to Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Sundown or a charity of one's choice. We love you Mom and always will. VICHNAYA PAMYAT Arrangements by Birchwood funeral chapel 1-204-346-1030 or 1-888-454-1030
