JACK REMPEL With family by his side, Jack Rempel passed away peacefully on January 20, 2010. Jack will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Trudy Rempel and his children Donna (Don) Gord (Sheila) and Keith (Joanne) and grandchildren Dennis, Dustin, Dominique, Jeff, Todd, T.J., Courtney (Corey) Adam, Jordan and Cody. Jack was predeceased by his daughter Caroline, his parents and his sister Mary. He will be missed by his many extended family members. Jack was born on July 1, 1921 in Russia and immigrated to Canada with his family, settling in Springstein, MB. Jack met and married Trudy in 1950 and moved to Springstein where they started their family and then moved to Oak Bluff in 1956. As a family they resided in Oak Bluff for 47 years until retiring in Winnipeg in 2003. Jack owned and operated Rempel Chev Olds commencing in 1956 and became a cornerstone business in the community of Oak Bluff. Jack was a leader in the community with his volunteer efforts through the local recreation centre, his church, Springstein Mennonite and his numerous years as Councillor on the MacDonald Municipal Council. Jack enjoyed travel, camping, curling, golf and following the lives of his grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of E6 at the St. Boniface Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion and to the numerous visitors for their care and support. Viewing will be held on Friday, January 22 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Springstein Mennonite Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Springstein Mennonite Church in Springstein, MB. A reception, following the service will be held at Oak Bluff Recreation Centre. A private interment will be held prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CNIB 1080 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3.
