LOUIS SMELSKY It is with great sadness the family announces that peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Seven Oaks Hospital, Louis Smelsky passed away at the age of 79 years. Louis was born and raised in Transcona and worked for the CNR as a locomotive engineer until he retired in 1987. Louis is survived by his sweetie Maryanne; his children, Lorne (Cathy), Richard (Shelley), and Shelley; grandchildren, Dave, Kristen and Nikki; sisters, Nellie, Corey, and Louise, many nieces, nephews and his little friends Buddy and Muffin. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sophie; his parents, Nicholas and Maria; brothers, Harry, Tony, Orest and Mark and sister Helen. Memorial Service will take place on Friday, January 22 (today) at 11:00 a.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St., Winnipeg, with Father Diosdado Parrenas officiating. Cremation has taken place. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, at 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, R3T 0R3. We would like to thank Father Dado for visiting and praying with Louis and the wonderful nurses and staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for taking care of Louis, and for caring so much. Louis - I love you and will miss you every day, and I know you will be there when I need you, just like always. I know Jesus will look after you for me, so until we meet again, Rest In Peace.
