MARY GRADWELL (GULAY) (nee YANCIW) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Gradwell with her family by her side on January 23, 2010. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Tony Gradwell, of 28 years, two brothers, Metro (Margaret), Bill (Diane), her children Ted, Danny (Kathy), Darlene (Stan), Virginia (Wayne), Brenda, Roger (Lorie), Adrian (Linda), Julie (Simon), her 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends. Mom was born May 4, 1937 in Chatfield, MB and raised on the farm in Poplarfield, MB. For the last 14 and one half years she resided in the Woodlands area with her loving husband Tony, where she prided herself with her impeccable garden, and manicured yard. Mom was a strong, courageous and generous woman who loved and accepted each person in her life for who they were. Moms' cooking was always something the family looked forward to. She made sure no one ever left her home empty handed. There was always a bag of perogies, homemade pickles, beets and anything else we could enjoy or take home. Mom had a soft spot for all animals and was especially attached to her beloved dog Sharp . She enjoyed feeding and listening to the birds and specifically mentioned seeing a beautiful bird outside her hospital window. We know in our hearts that mom spread her wings and flew off with that beautiful bird to Rest in Peace Many thanks go out to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Stonewall Hospital for their exceptional care. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. open to everyone at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society, 45 Hurst St., Winnipeg, MB. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
