ANDREW LESCHYSHYN May 3, 1918 - January 22, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and gigi on January 22, 2010 at the Arborg Personal Care Home with his wife and family by his side. Andrew will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, of 65 years; sons Lawrence (Georgina), Marvin (Diane), Michael (Marie), Dennis (Lorna), Fred (Cindy), and Andy (Kim); daughters Deanna Leschyshyn (Merv), Angela Mehling (Lorne), and Lorraine Mesinda (Bill); grandchildren Beau, Lars, Lynette (Dave), Ryan (Amanda), Elise, Derek, Jason, Tim, Laurie (Paul), Tamara, Nathan (Janet), and Jessica; great-grandchildren Brooke, Blake, Hayden, Andrew, and Simon; plus numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Nellie and Mike, brothers Bill, Dymetro, and sister Ann, infant siblings Tenie, Anthony, and Tony. Dad was born May 3, 1918 in Silver. At the young age of 18 he was drafted into the army. He helped his parents on the family farm until he met Mary whom he married in 1944. Together they raised their family of nine children. Dad had a very good work ethic that he instilled in each of his children. He worked in various positions throughout his life, including highway construction, working at the grain elevators, and finally, as the Arborg Elementary School custodian. He also spent many hours working on his farm. He enjoyed being outdoors cutting wood in the bush, socializing, and going to dances. Later on when he moved to the personal care home, he enjoyed playing bingo and listening to Debbie in activity. His favourite saying to Mom before going out was put your lipstick on . Dad also loved to hear the musicians in the family - Lorne, Jason, and friend Raymond Block, who performed at many family functions. The family would like to thank the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for their amazing care and compassion, and Cindy Genyk, who is always so generous with her time and support. The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Arborg. Interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Silver. Viewing will be held prior to service. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Arborg Personal Care Home. Vichnaya Pamyat Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
