Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEUGENE OLIVER EWANEK Peacefully on January 20, 2010 at Stonewall Hospital, with his family by his side, Eugene passed away at the age of 71. Eugene was born in Abee, Alberta on October 26, 1938 and a few years later the family moved to Stonewall, Manitoba were they started the family farm. Eugene continued farming after his parents had moved back to Alberta. Eugene worked very hard on the farm but always found time to visit with friends to discuss hay, cattle, hog, grain prices and what might be the best crops to grow. He also started up a small construction company which kept him busy doing all kinds of backhoe work. Eugene enjoyed his grandchildren and was babysitter on many occasions and according to the kids made great pancakes and borscht soup. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, partaking in demolition derby's and trained the family harness racing horses to get them ready for Assiniboine Downs. Leaving to mourn his passing are sons Jason (Sarah), Justin and their mother Vivian; grandchildren Austen, Jayden and Easton; brothers, Morris (Barb), Nester (Dianne) and numerous nephews and nieces. Eugene was predeceased by his mother Betty, father Oliver and older brother Bob. The family would like to thank Dr. Graham, nursing staff and palliative care at Stonewall Hospital; Dr Dahling and nursing staff at Seven Oaks; Teulon Hospital medical staff and MacKenzie Funeral Home for all their help with Dad. Cremation has taken place and in compliance with Dad's wishes no formal service will be held. In the summer of 2010 his family will gather to celebrate their Dad and Papa's life.
