DONALD JOSEPH HOLDEN It is with great sadness we announce that Don Holden, at the age 74, of Stonewall, MB passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Stonewall Hospital with his loving wife at his side. Survived by Janice, his wife of 35 years, sister Doris Stone, daughter Joni Gaye (Kelly) Kovar, granddaughter Jennifer Kovar, grandson Brett Kovar, son James Wesley, nieces Barb (David) Trinka, Betty (Jim) Ballance, greatnieces Vicki and Brooke Ballance and Camille Trinka, and numerous sisters and brothers-in- law. Predeceased by his parents Henry (Harry) and Hazel, his brother James, brother-in-law Howard Stone and twin nephews who passed away in 1944. Born on June 6, 1935 in Minnedosa, Don was known to all his family as a great storyteller and had a dry sense of humour. He enjoyed talking about history and politics to those who had the patience to listen. He loved his pets and was a bird watcher. As a young man he started working in the lumber industry with Monarch Lumber and retired in 1992 from Sexton Building Materials. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society phone 942-2048, www.winnipeghumanesociety.mb.ca or a charity of your choice.
