ROBERT GORDON POURIER December 11, 1930 January 25, 2010 My Dad, My Hero Gord passed away peacefully, on January 25, 2010, with his family at his side, after a full life of 79 years. Dad will be sadly missed and leaves to forever cherish his memory his children Mike, Terri (Jack), Jacqui (Darwin), Trina (Bruce) and Corey, grandchildren Shayne, Vicki, Jennifer, Kimberly, Michael, Bradley, Eric, C.J., Jessica, Mathew, Scott, Josh, Tyler, Dillon and Britney, along with great-grandchildren Jordan, Deion, Nicholas, Michael and Jessica. Dad leaves behind his special friend Evelyn and many friends. Gord was predeceased by his son Darrell, granddaughter Nicole and grand-daughter-in-law Heather. Dad was a loving and gentle man and the greatest father a child could hope to have. He was very involved in his children's lives. Dad always loved camping and fishing. His favourite pastime was going fishing with Corey. From Boy Scout Leader, to Baseball Coach, to fixing broken toys and broken hearts, Dad was always there. The most important thing that Dad showed and taught us was how to love unconditionally. Gord was a hard working man, who spent two years in the Royal Canadian Navy and 23 years in the Air Force. After his resignation from the RCAF, Dad drove for Grey Goose Bus Lines, various trucking companies and finally retired from Atomic Trucking in January of 1996. Dad was presented with many awards throughout his careers, from Distinguished Service and safe driving to the Medal of Bravery and Humanitarian Award, for saving a child from drowning in the Red River in 1987. He is truly a hero. The gift of Dad's life will be held close by his children, family and friends. At Dad's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. We wish to thank the Doctors and staff at the Grace Hospital who provided such tender care to Dad in his final days. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Beacon Hill Lodge, for their care and support during Dad's stay. The world is a better place because of people like you.
