Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTHER FREIDA LINNEA WOODWARD (formerly O'SHAUGHNESSY) (nee ENGBORG) It is with great sadness we announce that Esther Woodward passed away peacefully on January 27, 2010. Left to cherish her memory are husband Edward Woodward, son Kerry (Mary), daughter Kathi, grandchildren Brendan (Erin) and Sara (David), and sister Ruth (Ken) Roberts. She was predeceased by first husband Thomas (Howie) O'Shaughnessy, her parents Fritz and Augusta Engborg, sister Thelma Young and brother Gilbert Engborg. Esther was born in Winnipeg July 15, 1925. She and Howie married in 1948 and they moved to Regina in 1957 where they raised their family and made many close friends. After Howie's passing in 1974, Esther moved back to Winnipeg to be near her family and old friends. In 1992 Esther married Ed and was welcomed into his family. She will be missed by her stepchildren Marilyn (Mark), Allan (Carol) and grandchildren Paula (Kyle), James (Linda), Megan, Madison and Michael. She was predeceased by stepson Brian in 2008. Esther's nieces and nephews have many happy memories of spending time with Auntie Esther. She also developed a close relationship with her extended family in Sweden, whom she visited often, and joined in celebrating many important family milestones. Esther loved traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She filled her house with beautiful things that she bought in her travels and treasured her many friends. She brightened many lives and will be missed by many. A private family interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been made through Friends Funeral Service. The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge (third floor) who took such exceptional good care of her these past few months. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of their choice.
