This is an amazing tribute to Basil, that we still visit with him and are learning more about life's interconnections because we cherish some memory or hope associated with him. I am JoAnne Dundas and I was with Bas for a few wonderful, tumultuous years, early 80s. I would love to share memories with anyone who did or who wanted to love him. He overcame unbelievable challenges that should not be forgotten or lost. Thank you, Mary for this site. Thank all of you who have shared here. I'm in Nanaimo and on fb pls get in touch with me. I am thrilled to have begun a conversation with Kim. Basil would be pleased. - Posted by: JoAnne Dundas (Former spouse) on: Jun 28, 2018

Hello, I would really like to connect with Derek Brasseur, Kim Brasseur and Jim Sharpe. My father, Alfred Brasseur (Freddie) drowned at the age of 21 in Toronto (Lake Ontario) in July, 1959 when I was 2 weeks old. I know very little about my dad however my mother told me that he was adopted and had a brother named Basil. Based on what Jim Sharpe has written above it seems very likely that Basil was my uncle. If there is any way to pass this message along with my contact information to Basil's family and Jim Sharpe that would be very much appreciated. Thank you. - Posted by: Jim Brasseur (Possible relative ) on: Jun 05, 2018

I would love to get in touch with Jim Sharpe the man that wrote the tribute to my dad. I spoke to him several times on the phone but never got the chance to meet him in person. I went to Manitoba in the summer of 2012 and found out that he also passed away. That is why I really would love to speak to Jim Sharpe about my dad. - Posted by: Kim Brasseur (Daughter) on: Mar 08, 2013

Basil and I spent many years together until the age of 18 years. We were in the childrens aide society and when we turned 16 we left the center and moved into a flat with another friend. I have many fond memories of those times and some sad as well, like when his only brother drowned it hurt him deeply. After I joined the army in 1959 we lost touch. It appears that Basil had a happy and good life and I am pleased for him. Wish we could have met again. RIP. - Posted by: Jim Sharpe (Boyhood friends) on: Feb 03, 2012
