RETA LAROCQUE (nee STAPLES) After a courageous battle with cancer it is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Granny and Great-Granny at the age of 81 years, on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 with her family by her side. She is survived by her children Dennis (Carolyn), Doreen (Allen), Alice (Don), Lorna (Vid), Cliff, all of Fisher Branch, Wanda (Byron) of Winnipeg, Dawn (Len) of Fisher Branch, Darcy (Darlene) of Stonewall; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Hattie (Bernard) of Winnipeg, Thelma of Winnipeg and Violet of Wainwright. She was predeceased by her mother Alice, father Albert, husband Louie, son Joseph, sister Lila, and brothers Clifford and Clarence. She was born in Hodgson, Manitoba on July 16, 1928 where she spent most of her life raising her children and helping Dad on the farm. After Dad passed away she retired and bought a house in Fisher Branch. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, listening to music and visiting with family and friends. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Fisher Branch Community Centre. Burial to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.
