GEORGE GREGORY MEADY George Gregory Meady passed away on January 30, 2010 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his three daughters at his side. George was born on April 24, 1934 in Fort William to Mary and Louis Meady (Mikita). He attended St. Stanislaus School and Vocational High. George married Darlene Masters in Port Arthur on June 17, 1957. They had three children, Janet, Georgia and Melanie. He was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Parish and a devout Catholic. George worked for a short time at Canadian Fairbanks Morse and Canadian Car Foundry. He then joined Canadian Pacific Railway where he worked in various mechanical and office positions, retiring in 1989 after 37 years of service as Superintendent Office Manager, Lakehead Division. George had many hobbies and loved all card games and chess. He also very much enjoyed golfing with his buddies and hearing and sharing a good joke. His favourite hobby however was magic where he performed at various functions throughout the city under the name of Magic by George . He will be greatly missed by his family and all who encountered his humour and strength of spirit. George is survived by his three daughters, Janet Kastellanos (Rick Watts), Georgia Gascoigne (Derek) and Melanie Cassie (Robert). Also survived by his grandchildren: Alexa, Nicholas, and Andreas Kastellanos, Kyle, Ryan and Brady Volbracht, Gabrielle Gascoigne and Dylan and Chanel Cassie. George is also survived by his two great-grandsons, Bryce and Reece Volbracht and sisters, Teresa Kabernick (Arthur), Amelia Meady (Mutz), Mary St. Louis and brother-in-law Jack Masters (Kay), as well as numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Darlene (Masters); parents, Louis and Mary Meady (Hudec); sister Anna Deck; and brothers, Bill Meady and Thomas Meady. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church celebrated by Rev. Richard Kowalchuk. Interment at St. Andrews Roman Catholic Cemetery. Following the services a reception will be held in the Sargent Family Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
