Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE DRABIK Alice Drabik, born February 15th, 1916, in Transcona, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2009, two weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. Alice was married December 14th, 1935 to Thomas Drabik who predeceased Alice in 1999. Alice was the mother of Dolores Bell (husband John and children Ron, Randy (deceased), Rob and Dennis) and Wayne Drabik (wife Vera). Alice will be remembered always for her good jokes, hard work (behind the bar at the Arborg Legion just to name one of her many jobs over the years) and her joie de vivre. At the time, 40 years ago, it was uncommon for grandkids to witness a grandmother engaging in youthful activities. Alice was famous for riding her bike, doing the hula hoop and standing on her head on the grass or even with a dare on a table. She would even help a grandson with a paper route. Alice also enjoyed some travel, going to Mexico by bus a couple times. A legendary family story also involved the purchase of two Winnipeg transit buses that sat on their Arborg property. The buses were bursting with used clothing that would make their way onto the backs of four grandsons, sometimes involving outlandish dress up games with Nana and other times serious back to school clothes. Sadly the last ten years of Alice's life were living with Alzheimer's disease. A private family ceremony took place in the town of Frankford, Ontario on October 25th, 2009, high up the hill, overlooking the Trent River, where family members recalled fond memories of a Mom, a wonderful grandmother and a great-grandmother. She will stand as an example of an individual, who despite many hardships, and a life full of hard work, found many joys in the simpler things in life.
