JOSEPH DUBOWITS May 30, 1926 - January 29, 2010 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Joseph Dubowits, at the River East Personal Care Home. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory his children, Cathy and Derek Falconer, Karen Duguid and Bruce Sykes, his grandchildren Heather Suggitt, Shannon and Matt Prentice and Jared and Ryan Duguid. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years Stephanie, his parents, siblings and many extended family members. Spending his entire life in Gonor, Manitoba, he married Stephanie in 1951. After graduating from Manitoba Technical Institute, he supported his family as a heavy duty industrial mechanic until his retirement from the Canadian National Railway in 1991. He was very active in his retirement years, taking pride in his yard and gardens. He also loved to experience the world, travelling to such places as Hawaii, Europe, The Orient, and various places in the States. Coming from a musical family, Dad developed a love of music and played the trumpet in his younger years. Listening to his Big Band collection was always a favourite pastime, as well as giving him much comfort during his final hours. Dad was an active member of the Holy Trinity Church serving on the Executive Board, various committees and helping in the daily care and maintenance of the church. His lifelong dedication to his parish was a very important part of his life. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 6297 Henderson Hwy., Gonor, MB, with Father Peter Chorney officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at River East Personal Care Home for the excellent care given to our Father. We appreciate the kindness and support shown to our family over the past three years. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dad may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba www.alzheimer.mb.ca Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
